Warmer today with clearing skies 12/7/2021

Your Tuesday is off to a cold start, just like yesterday. Temperatures are sitting in the mid to upper 20s, but gusty winds are making it feel more like the teens. Make sure to bundle up the kids in their heavy winter gear again before they head off to school. A few snow flurries also could be flying around for your morning commute, but most of the area likely won’t see any due to dry air at the surface. Clouds will gradually clear throughout the day today leading to more sunshine for the afternoon and evening. Winds will also be out of the south for the first half of the day and this will help boost up our temperatures. Highs will warm back into the low to mid-40s across the area today, but temperatures will be cold in the teens again tonight. The warmest day of the week will be Thursday, and then we cool down for Friday. Snow is still possible on Friday and we will have more details later this week. (More on snow potential below)

As of now, it appears a majority of the snow will fall north of I-80 during most of your Friday. What we don’t know yet is the exact track of the snow and totals. Below are two different weather models showing how much snow they think we could get. Do you see why we aren’t throwing out snow totals yet? Models can’t agree on an amount because it is TOO EARLY. Things can change every single day leading up to a snow event. So hang in there and ignore any posts with snow totals for Friday because it’s too early. Meteorologist Malcolm Byron and I will have a better idea of what you can expect starting tomorrow.
