Warren Buffett’s lunch auction pulls in over $19 million

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The auction for the last power lunch with Warren Buffett sold for $19,000,100, crushing the 2019 record of $4,567,888.

The bidder is choosing to remain anonymous, but they are allowed to bring up to seven guests to the lunch.

Since 2000, Buffett has annually auctioned off this chance to pick his brain over a steak lunch at Smith and Wollensky Steakhouse in New York City.

Buffett donates the winning bid to the Glide Foundation, a nonprofit working against homelessness and hunger in San Francisco, and has raised over $53 million with this fundraiser.

Both 2020 and 2021’s auctions were canceled due to the pandemic, and Buffett has said this will be the final year of the lunch.
