WATCH: Animal control officers save ducklings from busy north Lincoln road
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several ducklings were rescued from a busy north Lincoln road after their mother was hit by a car.
Lincoln Animal Control said Wednesday that it received a call that a female wood duck appeared to have been hit by a car near 84th Street and Havelock Avenue.
The duck was still alive and was trying to push ducklings off the road, the caller said.
When animal control officers arrived, they found four ducklings on the road with no mother.
Officials say the ducklings were quickly rescued. Officers then heard more ducklings nearby and found six more in a field west of 84th Street.
The mother duck was not found, according to officials.
All 10 ducklings were taken to Wildlife Rescue for care.
