Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, an officer stopped a vehicle near Northwest 7th Street and West Cornhusker Highway for not having license plates.

The officer then saw narcotics inside the vehicle and arrested 23-year-old Dominick Fossberg on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

During a search of the vehicle, which is owned by Speidell, the officer found two homemade explosives, police say.

The Lincoln Fire and Rescue Bomb Squad was then called in to safely detonate the explosives.

Officers continued their investigation at Speidell’s apartment, which is near Northwest 8th Street and West Saunders Street.

Inside, officers found “two to three” more explosives, according to Police Chief Teresa Ewins.

An investigation is ongoing and police say they are working with state and federal partners to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosives.
