WATCH: Mike Flood sworn in as congressman from Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Rep.-elect Mike Flood was sworn in Tuesday night in Washington.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi administered the oath of office, making Flood a member of the 117th U.S. Congress.

Flood, a Republican, defeated a fellow state senator, Democrat Patty Pansing Brooks, in a special election last month.

He will serve for the remainder of former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry’s term. Fortenberry resigned in March after being convicted of lying to federal investigators.

Flood and Pansing Brooks will compete again in November for a full term representing Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District.
