WATCH: Pennsylvania boy escapes woman he says was trying to lure him away

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 10-year-old Pennsylvania boy is being praised for quick thinking that saved him from a woman he says was trying to lure him away.

Security video shows an unnamed woman following Sammy Green home from school on Friday.

The boy’s father, Sam Green, told KPVI-TV that as the woman walked with his son, she asked where his family was.

Though Sammy did not know the woman, she insisted that she knew the child’s family and that he was supposed to come with her.

The woman also told Sammy he could get anything he wanted from a local gas station.

Sammy knew something was wrong and used quick thinking he learned from his dad to get help.

He walked into Dani Bee Funky, a local store that he was familiar with, and walked straight to the cashier.

“He said to ‘act like you’re my mom; this lady is following me,'” his father said.

The cashier put herself between Sammy and the woman.  She then pulled the door shut and locked it.

Police have since tracked the woman down.   They say she is receiving mental health help.

The shop owner, Dani Small, praised Sammy for doing the right thing and her employee for helping the boy.

“I am very proud of her,” Small said. ” She did everything correctly.”
