Waverly holds Seward scoreless

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) – The Waverly Vikings beat the Seward Bluejays 14-0 on Friday.

Both teams held each other scoreless in the first quarter thanks to some impressive defensive stops.

Waverly got the scoring going in the second quarter with a huge 45-yard run by junior running back Evan Kastens, giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead.

Quarterback Trey Jackson added a second Waverly touchdown just outside the goal line later in the quarter.

The defenses for both teams held strong, keeping the game scoreless the rest of the way.

With the win, Waverly secures a district title and will have a shot at a state title when playoffs begin in two weeks.

Seward will look to finish strong against Beatrice at home.
