Week 8 high school football roundup: Back-to-back Class C1 champ Wahoo hands Ashland-Greenwood 1st loss, and more
ASHLAND, Neb. (KLKN) – Forty eight minutes of action was not enough to decide a winner in Channel 8’s Game of the Week Friday night between Wahoo and Ashland-Greenwood, as the Warriors held on for a 20-19 overtime win after stopping a game-winning two-point try from the Blue Jays at Ashland-Greenwood High School.
Joey Kelly of Wahoo (6-2) scored what ended up being the game-winning touchdown on a reception from quarterback Braylon Pacas.
Additionally, Ashland-Greenwood (7-1) had a chance to win the game with a field goal, but the attempt missed off the crossbar to send it into the extra period tied at 13.
Laine Peterson of the Warriors scored the games first touchdown in the second quarter, and then the first of two Grayson Nolan scores gave the Blue Jays their first six points of the night. At halftime, Wahoo led 7-6 because of an Ashland-Greenwood missed PAT.
The back-to-back Class C1 champion Warriors wrap up the regular season next Friday against Raymond Central, while the Blue Jays will look to bounce back against Lakeview.
