Weekend wraps up on a warmer note

Looking at maximum wind gusts reported around the area, here’s a look (below) into some of the higher reports behind the cold front. Once the cold front came through, you could feel the difference with strong winds gusting 45 to almost 55 mph and out of the northwest. That cold front brought a colder air mass that sent temperatures plummeting fast Friday into Saturday.

Wind Reports

Temperatures across the state Friday night into Saturday morning were COLD. Behind the cold front and with the strong northwest winds, morning lows were in the single digits for most of us.

Saturday evening will not be as cold as the low temperatures we saw in Lincoln or anywhere else. In fact, Sunday morning will start off 10-15° warmer for most of southeast Nebraska with partly cloudy skies and light winds.

The warmer day this weekend is Sunday, and temperatures are going to climb back into the upper 40s for a high. Some of us may even be lucky enough to see 50s to end the weekend. There will be plenty of sun on “Sun”day, too, so it’ll be one of the more pleasant December days.

Dma Tomorrow High

The forecast will have us dry for some time, until a system develops from the Rockies around mid week, giving us a chance to see mixed precipitation late Wednesday night transition to rain chances going into Thursday. That system is still fairly far out that the timing and track will be important as to what type of precipitation we see through the passing of that low pressure system.
