A southern style restaurant reopened its doors today and the owner says the community has been supportive during tough times.

“It’s been really really good the community has been coming out showing love and actually we had stopped serving for a few weeks,”  says Marlina Ware, Owner Of M And J’s Southern Style Food. “They’ve been calling like, ‘Hey, when is M and Js opening back up?’ or ‘We miss you guys.’ So it’s been a high demand for us to open back up.”

M And J’s Southern Style Food is new to the capital city and has only been here six months when the pandemic hit.

M and J’s serve dishes like ribs, chicken and waffles, and smoked stuffed turkey legs.

Ware says they wear gloves and highly encourage social distancing, allowing less than 10 people inside for pick ups.

“They can call in they can do pre-orders on our Facebook page, M and J’s Southern Style Food,” adds Ware. “So, you can pre-order there and you can also walk in.” Ware owns the restaurant with her husband and says the move from Tennessee has been worth it.
