The 2020 Wilber Czech Festival has been canceled, organizers announced Wednesday.

The Nebraska Czechs of Wilber  said  federal and state recommendations about COVID-19 and uncertainty about how the virus will progress led to the decision.

“This was a very difficult decision to make,” the organization said. “Our festival brings in thousands of people. We wish to keep our community and our guests safe.”

Nebraska Czechs of Wilber said many young and older community members helped and volunteered with the festival, and that they did not wish to jeopardize their health in any way.

The annual Czech Festival will be held on August 6, 7, and 8, 2021, organizers said.

“We will be back with as much excitement and hurrah as we have before!”
