Windy Wednesday Forecast 12/23/2020

Wind gusts are the main weather concern so far this morning as the state is already seeing gusts as high as 50 mph. Around southeast Nebraska, wind gusts are in the 40s as a cold front is nearly through the area. But temperatures are ranging from the 30s to the 50s thanks to the front. By the afternoon and evening temperatures will drop, and everyone in southeast Nebraska will be in the mid-20s with wind chill values in the single digits thanks to the high winds. Snow accumulation will be a bigger issue north of highway 30, but the Lincoln area could see up to 2” in some spots. Travel is not advised today thanks to the high wind gusts and reduced visibility from falling precipitation.
