LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department says a woman is in critical condition following an overnight crash.

The wreck happened just before midnight at Leighton and Huntington Avenues.

That’s near North 43rd Street, right by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln: East Campus.

LPD tells Channel 8 the woman drove her car into a tree, and it was still stuck on the median around 3:30 a.m.

Right now it’s not clear what led up to this crash, that crushed the front of her vehicle.

Police say the roads were pretty dry at the time, so that does not appear to have played a role.

They also haven’t identified the woman just yet, who we’re told was the only person involved in this accident.

Despite the wreckage, there are no shutdowns in the area.
