LINCOLN. Neb. (KLKN) —It started as a normal round of golf but things quickly changed when Jamie Rye felt something on her arm.

“All of a sudden, a really painful thing happened on my arm. I thought maybe the people behind us teed off and like, hit me in the arm with a golf ball. Then it started burning, so I looked down and thinking there was like a mystery, like a bumblebee or something,” Jamie Rye said.

Rye and her husband were enjoying a round of golf on the Fairways course in Lincoln when suddenly, on the seventh hole, something hit her.

“Then, I saw the little BB in my arm, and I looked at my husband, I’m like, I think I should kind of shot with a BB gun,” Rye said.

A BB shot right into her arm as the two were riding in a golf cart. They let the club house know and then headed to the emergency room. The BB was so far into Rye’s arm, doctors had to cut it out.

“They numbed it made an incision, and then they were able to squeeze it out. Then they had to do X-rays to make sure there wasn’t stuff still stuck in there,” Rye said.

Never in a million years would she expect her Memorial Day to end with her getting shot with a BB gun but her hope is that it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Rye is back home and doing okay. She did file a police report, LPD said they are currently investigating the case to see who may have fired the shot.
