WWE’s Bret Hart attacked by Lincoln man in New York City during Hall of Fame speech

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for punching famous wrestler ,Bret “The Hitman” Hart, in the face as he was making a Hall of Fame speech at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, police said.

NYPD confirmed to Channel 8 Eyewitness News that 26-year-old Zachary Madsen is from Lincoln. 

As Hart was accepting induction for the second time, Madsen rushed into the ring and punched him.

The live broadcast on the WWE Network was interrupted as several people, including many wrestlers, rushed in the ring to pull Madsen away from Hart.

After Madsen was taken into custody, 61-year-old Hart was able to finish his speech.

NYPD charged Madsen with the following: assault in the third degree, criminal trespass in the third degree and violation of local law-interfering a sporting event.
