York County deputies arrest suspect for terroristic threats and hitting officer with a door

YORK COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — Early this morning, York County Sheriff’s Office (YSO) responded to a report of an armed domestic disturbance.

Deputies responded to a residence in McCool Junction and established a secure perimeter, according to YSO. Deputies then evacuated a juvenile from the residence and began attempting to get the remaining occupants to exit.

The female victim exited the residence and deputies then attempted to take the male suspect into custody. He resisted by attempting to shut the door on the deputies as they entered the residence. The suspect struck a deputy in the face with the door, causing an injury.

According to YSO, a physical altercation followed and the suspect was taken into custody. Both the suspect and deputy sustained minor injuries.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and located multiple firearms, including a handgun, revolver, shotgun and a rifle.

Max Rea, 70, was arrested and lodged for terrorist threats, child abuse, use of a firearm to commit a felony, resisting arrest, assault of a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.
