York County holding “pink postcard meeting” for Heartland School

YORK, Neb. (KLKN) — Tonight, York County officials are holding their “pink postcard meeting” for Heartland Community Schools district.

The pink postcard refers to a notice sent to property owners informing them that a local government or school district plans to raise property tax requests above the state’s allowable growth limit.

The conversation comes because York County has to participate in the pink postcard process.

York County Commissioner Randy Obermier said the department heads and elected officials were invited but not obligated to be at the meeting. However, Obermier strongly encouraged their appearance.

Because of state law, this meeting is required for the process to be in effect.
