York Dukes thump Crete Cardinals on homecoming night

YORK, Neb. (KLKN) — The York Dukes put on a show on both sides of the ball on Friday night, defeating Crete 33-6.

York hosted the Crete Cardinals at East Hill Stadium on the school’s homecoming night.

Both teams were 2-3 on the year, looking to tack on another game in the winning column.

On York’s first possession, it marched down the field and went for it on fourth down. From inches away, the Dukes fumbled the ball but regained possession to pick up the first down and keep going.

Once they were back on their feet, quarterback Ryan Seevers found Daniel Snodgrass for a 10-yard touchdown, giving York a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The crowd had a lot to cheer for on homecoming night.

On a fourth-and-goal play call with 1 yard to go, Seth Erickson plunged into the end zone for the Dukes, putting the team up 14-0 at the end of the half.

York stayed in command to earn a blowout win.
