York man gets several decades in prison for killing wife

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A York man will spend at least five decades behind bars for killing his wife earlier this year.

Bart Beutler, 48, was sentenced Monday to 100 to 130 years in prison for second-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

His sentence will be cut in half automatically because of Nebraska’s good time law.

On Jan. 30, Beutler called police after he shot his wife, 46-year-old Stacie Beutler, according to an arrest affidavit.

Bart shot Stacie “until the clip was empty” after she kept entering the bedroom where he was lying down, court documents say.

He said he tried saving her life but was unsuccessful, the affidavit alleges.
