York stuns Seward in upset win

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) – York defeated Seward 28-14 on Friday in a big upset for the Dukes.

York quarterback Ryan Seevers connected with receiver Garrett Ivey for a quick touchdown on the Dukes’ first offensive possession.

After the score, the Bluejays marched down the field and punched it in from just outside the end zone to tie the game 7-7.

Later in the first, Seevers added a goal-line score of his own to give his team a 14-7 lead.

On special teams, York took advantage of a fumble by Seward’s return man, taking it back for a touchdown to widen its lead to 21-7.

In the second half, Seward running back Nolan Hill rushed for a clutch touchdown to narrow the deficit to 21-14.

York capped off its win in the fourth quarter with a 55-yard run by Seevers.

York will be on a bye next Friday.

Seward is on the road to face Waverly.
