York takes down rival Seward in playoffs

YORK, Neb. (KLKN) – York and Seward each came into Friday night’s playoff game 6-3, but only one would come out alive.

York was down 7-0 in the first quarter but scored 21 unanswered points to win the game 21-7.

In the first quarter, York was close to the red zone, but Ryan Seevers’ pass was tipped and picked off by Seward’s Edisson Knott.

In that drive for the Blue Jays, they scored a touchdown on a quarterback keeper by Kalen Knott to go up 7-0.

In the second quarter, with the same score, the Dukes were in the red zone, and Seevers passed over the middle to Emmanuel Jensen, who caught it just inside the 1-yard line.

The very next play, York scored to tie the game at 7.

The Dukes would score 14 more unanswered points to win and move onto the second round of the playoffs.

They face the undefeated No. 2 Omaha Gross Catholic Cougars next Friday.
