2 dead, 3 others injured in two-car crash in Hastings
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Hastings Police Department is investigating a two-car crash that killed two people and injured three others.
Police said it happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on North Burlington Avenue in Hastings.
They said a pickup rear-ended a car, pushing it onto the terrace, where it rammed into other objects.
Two people in the car, 61-year-old Natividad Zuniga and 45-year-old Graciano Nava Zuniga, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both are from Grand Island.
Another two occupants of the car and the driver of the pickup were taken to a hospital.
One of the passengers was then taken to a Lincoln hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The Hastings Police Department offers our deepest condolences to everyone affected by the traffic fatality that occurred within our community,” Hastings Police wrote in a press release late Thursday.
Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in this crash. An autopsy will be conducted at a later date, police say.
