LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – CHI Health says they’re experiencing shortages of a monoclonal antibody treatment that is effective against the omicron variant.

CHI Health made the announcement during a Zoom press conference on Friday. During the press conference, CHI Health said out of the three monoclonal antibody treatments available, only one was effective against the omicron variant.

Due to the short supply, CHI Health says they’re limiting treatments to those with an extremely high risk of severe diseases.

Monoclonal antibody treatments are done through an IV and reduce the amount of the virus in your body once you’ve tested positive with COVID-19. The treatment prevents serious COVID-19 from progressing.
