Remaining warm and dry for the foreseeable future

We’ve seen our fair share of above-average highs this winter, and Saturday adds another day to the list. Despite starting out at 10°, Lincoln was able to achieve a high temperature of 58° on Saturday.

We should be mostly clear to partly cloudy on Saturday night. We also won’t be nearly as cold. We’re forecasting lows in the low to mid-20s across most of southeast Nebraska.

Saturday Night Forecast

An upper-level wave will move on by for the day on Sunday. It’ll be breezy, and we’ll have enough moisture content to produce periods of low clouds on Sunday afternoon. It should also be cooler, but still well above average, with highs in the middle-40s.

Sunday Forecast

Skies will clear on Sunday evening before another wave of cloudiness arrives for Monday morning. But even the clouds on Monday morning quickly depart, allowing skies to turn sunny for the afternoon. And if you miss the 50° temperatures on Sunday, you’re in luck! Temperatures rise to the middle to upper-50s on Monday and Tuesday.

Next 3 Days

The streak of above-average temperatures doesn’t appear as if it will end anytime soon. The Climate Prediction Center thinks that we have a 60-70% chance of seeing above-average temperatures extending from next Saturday through the following Tuesday. I like to think of this in terms of heating costs. That means a 60-70% chance of paying less for heating during that period.

6-10 Day Temperature Outlook

Enjoy the warmer weather while you can, because we all know that winter can return at a moment’s notice.
