Above-average temperatures unwilling to budge

While temperatures backed off a little bit for Sunday, they were still mild by early February standards. Most were stuck in the middle-40s on Sunday afternoon, except Falls City which achieved 50°.

Moisture content will be hard to come by on Sunday evening, so we’re looking at mostly clear skies during the evening. That said, another wave of cloudiness will arrive around or shortly after midnight. We expect those clouds to be with us overnight and into Monday morning. We’re forecasting a low near 19° in Lincoln.

Sunday Night Forecast

Any clouds will quickly exit during the mid-morning hours on Monday. Abundant sunshine will push temperatures into the upper-50s to near 60°. It should be noticeably less breezy on Monday afternoon.

Monday Forecast

I think that many will have an opportunity to hit 60° on Tuesday as well. However, we’ll be contending with a few clouds which might hold temperatures back a degree or two.

We should be a bit cooler, but still very mild, on Wednesday and Thursday as a few disturbances move through. The specifics as to how warm we get on both of those days are dependent on the timing of these disturbances. We’ll get a better idea of how that will play out over the next few days. Either way, it appears possible that we may achieve 50° or more during the middle part of the week.

Mid-Week Forecast

Winter continues to take vacation past mid-week. We’ll have to wait until Saturday for the next “decent” cooldown. Even then, we’re not looking at a drop in temperatures to more winter-like levels as things look now.
