Changes to the StarTran bus routes go into effect November 1st.
The new transit plan calls for more bus routes to newer parts of the city, to the south and west, to the airport and by 84th.
There are also expanded hours on nights and weekends for several routes.
They should also be easier to find, with new signage around town- and designated bus stops.
"We went through a long process of finding out what people wanted, what the needs were, what the changing conditions were in Lincoln, and now we’ve implemented those changes, which include evening service with 3 routes until 10 pm, many of the other routes going until 8 pm,” Mike Davis, Transit Manager for StarTran, said.
There’s also a new fleet of buses on the roads that run off of natural gas.
Some other good news, the buses are free to ride through November.
