Nebraska U.S. rep visits Lincoln, says impeachment proceedings are unjust

Channel 8 caught up with U.S. Representative Jeff Fortenberry on Friday, where he made it clear that he thinks the impeachment proceedings are unjust.
We asked him about recent events that took place there involving proposed impeachment proceedings.
“It’s important Nebraskans hear where we are nationally,” said Fortenberry. “The process going on in congress right now is fundamentally unfair. It’s being held in a secret intelligence committee hearing room. Those of us who have top security clearance don’t even have access to the fullness of information and that’s not fair. It’s undermining the credibility of the United States Congress”.
Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi called for President Trump’s impeachment in September.
On Wednesday, a group of House Republicans stormed the private hearing causing a five-hour delay into the impeachment inquiry.
The meeting resumed afterward, where a pentagon official was asked about the white house withholding military aid from Ukraine this summer.
Fortenberry added that Nebraskans tell him to stay active where they believe congress is in trouble. He says that people don’t care about day to day actions, rather big picture events are a priority.
“Being in solidarity in community, having a place to base strategy, that begins in family,” said Fortenberry. “That begins in schools. That begins with civic life is where most people are their not caught up in the daily turmoil of whatever’s happening in Washington. But most Nebraskans tell me, just get something done.”
House business was suspended today to mourn the loss of Elijah Cummings, but is set to start up again Saturday.
