Turning significantly warmer all of next week
We closed out the workweek on a much sunnier note. Despite the increased sunshine on Friday, temperatures were still on the chilly side. Average highs are in the low-50s for this time of year, making Friday’s high of 32° in Lincoln well below normal. Factor in the wind, and it felt like the teens all afternoon!
Mostly clear skies will help temperatures cool off fast on Friday evening. We’re looking for a low near 3° in Lincoln. This is nearly 25° below Lincoln’s average low!
Although winds were breezy on Friday afternoon, we expect wind speeds to taper off overnight and into Saturday morning. While temperatures will still feel a few degrees lower than the actual air temperature at times, we’ve experienced much worse wind chills earlier this winter.
We should be mostly clear on Saturday, and temperatures will turn warmer. I cannot rule out a few clouds in our field of view off to the north, but the day features more sun than clouds. Temperatures will likely reach the 40s in Lincoln, and winds will become breezy again in the afternoon.
After Saturday, winter will take another vacation. High temperatures should be either near normal or above-average Sunday and beyond.
In addition to the warm air, we should be mostly dry. There is a chance to see a few spotty showers on Thursday, perhaps lasting into Friday morning. That said, this is not a phenomenal rain chance, and there’s a possibility that the system could miss us to our south altogether.
