Getting warmer before our next weather-maker arrives

Out of the two days this weekend, Sunday was the chiller day. Temperatures were in the 30s for much of the day in Lincoln, rising to the low and mid-40s by mid-afternoon.

Sunday night’s forecast is very similar to Saturday evening’s. Some clouds are forecast to remain overnight, but there should be plenty of gaps. Winds will be on the lighter side out of the east and southeast. We’re forecasting a low near 28° in Lincoln.

Sunday Night Forecast

Monday features a mix of sun and clouds, and it should be a significantly warmer day. We’re forecasting highs in the upper-50s in Lincoln, with 60s farther west. It’ll be more breezy, with southeast winds gusting up to 30mph at times.

Monday Forecast

Our next weather-maker arrives on Tuesday. Our forecast high on Tuesday is 77° in Lincoln, but not everyone will experience temperatures quite that warm. The first part of Tuesday may actually be more dreary than nice. The latest data coming in suggests an overcast sky with drizzle/light showers for the first part of the day.

Stormcast Tuesday Afternoon

As the disturbance strengthens, a warm front will attempt to pass through the area. This will result in a situation where southern Nebraska may near 80° whereas areas north are stuck in the 40s. The same areas that see warmth will also see some breaks in the clouds. I think Lincoln may be able to squeak by and see some of the warmth, but colder air will not be far away!

By Tuesday evening, we anticipate a few thunderstorms to develop somewhere east of the Tri-Cities. It is locations that see these thunderstorms that will observe the heaviest rainfall.

Stormcast Tuesday Evening

After Tuesday, we cannot rule out isolated rain showers on Wednesday, perhaps transitioning to snow on Wednesday evening. If you don’t see any of the Tuesday night storm activity, chances are that your rain totals through Wednesday night will be significantly lower.
