Relief from the high winds is coming soon
Nebraska is now on the cool side of the storm system that brought forth warm and windy weather over the last several days. While it was still windy on Sunday, it was not quite as windy compared to Friday and Saturday. This downtick in wind speeds is a trend that will continue into Monday.
For Sunday night, we expect a few clouds, but it should be mostly clear to partly cloudy overall. It will be a chilly night, with low temperatures on Monday morning in the middle-30s in Lincoln.
Monday will be another cool day, with high temperatures near 60° for most. Skies will be mostly sunny, with almost all clouds fizzling out by evening. One thing you will notice is that the wind speeds will be even lower. Wind gusts will likely be in the 20-25mph range on Monday.
The reduced wind speeds aren’t just limited to southeast Nebraska, but everyone statewide will see some relief from the high winds on Monday. In fact, wind speeds will likely be the lowest in western Nebraska!
Temperatures begin to climb starting Tuesday, with upper-60s and low-70s returning to the forecast. By Wednesday, highs should be back in the 80s.
By late week, our next few disturbances approach. A few morning showers are possible on Thursday, with some storms being possible on Friday. We’ll have the disturbances, but we’re still a bit far out to know the exact details as to how these will pan out. That will be something we’re narrowing in on over the next few days.
