Rain chances increase Tuesday

Monday Evening Weather Update May 16, 2022

Clouds will be on the increase over southeast Nebraska, especially after midnight.  There will be a chance for an isolated shower by morning.

Temperatures will drop to the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Mostly cloudy skies should be the rule Tuesday.  There will be a chance for a shower through the morning, but the chance increases for afternoon.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible, especially south of I-80.  There is a chance a few thunderstorms could prompt Severe Thunderstorm Warnings to be issued.

The main threat will be damaging wind and large hail.  However, a tornado cannot be ruled out.

There remain several questions about Tuesday night and whether or not there could be thunderstorms.

Several computer models suggest that a line of thunderstorms develops over east-central Nebraska.  The line would then dive to the southeast late night and through the early morning hours.

However, there is not enough consensus among the models to feel confident in that solution.
