Clouds and scattered rain return to kick off June

Monday night’s cold front delivered a much more refreshing air mass for Tuesday. The day was cooler, less humid, and less windy. I hope you got a chance to enjoy it, because the sky will take on a different look for Wednesday.

While we’re mostly clear on Tuesday evening, we’ll have to contend with some clouds overnight and into Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms well to our south may throw some high clouds our way for the first part of the overnight stretch. However, thicker clouds off to our west will be approaching and will arrive sometime on Wednesday morning. We’re forecasting a low near 52° in Lincoln.

Tuesday Night Forecast

Clouds will increase throughout Wednesday morning, with some scattered rain showers becoming possible in Lincoln around lunchtime. These showers could persist throughout the afternoon. We do not think that Wednesday will be anything close to a washout. By evening, the showers will be on their way out and skies will begin to clear. High temperatures should be in the upper-60s to near 70° in Lincoln.

Wednesday Forecast

Since the showers will initially have to overcome dry air in the low levels of the atmosphere, we’re not too optimistic about seeing a lot of rain. Many likely will only see a trace to a few hundredths of an inch. However, a few lucky locations may be able to get by with a tenth of an inch or two. The majority of these showers should be along and south of I-80.

Stormcast Wednesday Afternoon

We dry out for Thursday and Friday, with temperatures just slightly below average. However, the pattern turns more unsettled once again for the weekend with isolated to scattered storm chances for Saturday and beyond.
