Cloudy and cooler with chance for showers Wednesday

While some areas of the Channel 8 viewing area may see sunshine Wednesday morning, it should not last long.  Clouds will quickly increase, turning skies cloudy for the afternoon.  This will help to keep temperatures down.  Highs will only be in the middle 60°s to 70°.

A weather system south of Nebraska will bring moisture back to the state Wednesday.  Early Wednesday morning rain has developed in eastern Colorado and far southwest Nebraska.  Higher elevations in Colorado are even seeing snow.

The moisture is expected to spread eastward through southern Nebraska.  One fly in the ointment is the fact there is relatively dry air in place over southeast Nebraska.  Early Wednesday morning, dew point temperatures are in the middle 40°s.  It may take a little while for rain drops to overcome the dry air.

Scattered showers will be in the forecast through the afternoon and in to the evening.  Specifically in Lincoln, showers will be possible after 2 p.m.

The system will quickly spread east tonight, taking the rain and clouds east of the state.  This will allow skies to become mostly clear.  Temperatures will also drop in to the 40°s for Thursday morning as high pressure builds in.
