Quiet day before storms return Thursday

A quiet day is expected Wednesday in southeast Nebraska when it comes to the weather.

After morning clouds, skies will turn mostly sunny for late morning and through the afternoon. It will be the coolest afternoon in four days, as high temperatures will be in the upper 70s to near 80.

Mostly clear skies tonight and a light wind will allow temperatures to drop to below normal levels. Lows will be in the middle 50s.

Clouds will increase through the day Thursday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop over central Nebraska during the afternoon. These will spread eastward through the day.

A second round of showers and thunderstorms will be possible later Thursday evening along the Interstate 80 corridor.
