Below normal temperatures for one day; Heat Wave next week
A great start to Tuesday as temperatures dropped to the upper 50°s and lower 60°s. Lincoln experienced its coolest temperature in two weeks as the temperature dropped to 59°.
Sunny skies will be the rule throughout Tuesday. Temperatures will top out in the middle 80°s. A bonus day for many as highs will be a few degrees below normal for July 12. Example: Lincoln’s normal high temperature is 90°. I am forecasting 87°.
The other key to today’s weather will be the absence of high humidity. Dew point temperatures – the measure of the moisture in the air – have fallen to the 50°s as of Tuesday morning, and that is where they should remain through the day.
We will be able to enjoy one more night where you can turn off your air conditioner and open the windows. Low temperatures Wednesday morning will be in the low 60°s.
Temperatures start to climb back above normal starting Thursday. While there is a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday morning, much of the next 10 days will remain dry. Temperatures will also be very high, especially next week as a heat wave is projected to build in for the Plains. I am conservatively forecasting highs around 100° next week. Long range data suggests the heat will remain in place beyond the purview of the 10 Day Outlook.
