Inflation affecting local vendors at College View Farmers Market

Just as many Americans are feeling the effect of the highest inflation rates we have seen in 40 years, so are some of the local vendors.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Sunday Farmers Market in College View gives local farmers and producers an option to sell their produce back into their community.

Just as many Americans are feeling the effect of the highest inflation rates we have seen in 40 years, so are some of the local vendors. Daeron Jones, a helping hand with LeNoir Coffee, is happy their customers are still coming back for more after they raised prices.

“The fact that our customers still enjoy our products and that they don’t care about the price, shows us they care so much,” he said. “They understand what is going on and it’s like we are all in this together kind of mindset. We are lucky it hasn’t changed sales too much.”

Focusing on budget and cost has been one of the biggest priorities for LeNoir Coffee and many other vendors.

Michelle Hunter, the owner of Hunter’s Honey, spoke with Channel 8 about how packaging her products is taking more and more out of her pocket.

“Being a small local business, it has affected us tremendously,” she said. “We depend a lot on our bees, but the products we use to bottle the honey have gone up a lot.

Vendors are happy that there are options like the farmers market available and they are excited that people still come out to support them. Yet, the uncertainty of when prices will drop has kept them keeping a close eye on their budget.
