Two-vehicle crash leaves two dead near Wymore
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people are dead following a collision 4 miles south of Wymore on Friday evening.
Just before 7 p.m., Gage County deputies, along with Wymore Fire and Rescue, were called to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 77 and Sycamore Road.
According to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Cristgen Crouch was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer when he crossed the center line and collided with a passenger van driven by 72-year-old James Gallahue.
Crouch and Galluhue were both pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers hail from Marysville, Kansas, and Fort Collins, Colorado, respectively.
Authorities do not suspect alcohol as a factor, but they say cellphone usage and speed may have contributed to the crash. Seat belts were used in both vehicles.
Sgt. Tim Hanson says Wymore volunteer firefighters worked the scene through the night. The Nebraska State Patrol also assisted with crash reconstruction.
