‘Last Blast Lincoln Triathlon’ at Branched Oak state recreation area to end the summer season

Branched Oak Triathlon

RAYMOND, Neb. (KLKN)- Sunday morning people from all around Nebraska woke up early to get an extreme form of morning exercise.

Cars began showing up just after the crack of dawn.  Branched Oak Recreational area lake was prepared to have it’s last event of the summer season.

The ‘Last Blast Lincoln Triathlon’ welcomed those young and old, to show Nebraskans what they are capable of.

From swimming, to biking, to finishing off the race on foot, the event saw those from the Panhandle all the way to Iowa showing up to get a chance at the first place trophy.

“Triathlons are great because everybody here is suffering, which sounds bad, but you know everybody is suffering together and I think that’s kind of special. Everybody is cheering each other on and especially at the finish line, is a great atmosphere,” said Matthew Dahlke participant from Kearney.

Dahlke said this was his official triathlon, but definitely not his last.
