Nebraska WR Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda enters transfer portal

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska football junior wide receiver Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda announced Tuesday morning that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
According to NCAA rules, players are also allowed to enter the portal within 30 days of a head coach being fired during mid-season.

Garcia-Castaneda’s situation falls under that window as former head coach Scott Frost was fired on Sept. 11.
Tuesday marked the final day that he would be eligible to enter the transfer portal.
“Isaiah has that right,” Joseph said. “He wasn’t happy, he wanted to be the number one guy and we couldn’t do that for him.”

Despite a strong first game as a Husker against Northwestern where he caught four passes for 120 yards and one touchdown, Garcia-Castaneda hadn’t seen much time since.
He didn’t suit up against Indiana and wasn’t on the travel roster against Rutgers.
