LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 35-year-old inmate at the Community Corrections Center-Omaha died at a hospital Wednesday, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said.

Chance Ryks, who was serving up to 16 years for second-degree assault, was taken to a hospital from his work in the community.  He was later pronounced dead.

Officials say the Nebraska State Patrol will now conduct an investigation into Ryks’ death.

A grand jury will also investigate, which is the case whenever an inmate dies.
