Lincoln man arrested after firing several shots near the Railyard, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officers have arrested the man who police say fired several shots near the Railyard in downtown Lincoln.
On April 2 around 2 a.m., a caller reported hearing several gunshots near R and Canopy Streets.
When officers arrived, they found two vehicles with bullet holes and about 70 shell casings from two different caliber handguns, according to police.
Officers then spoke with 34-year-old Louis Benson, who was in one of the damaged vehicles. Police say he had a Glock handgun with him.
After an investigation, police found that several of the shell casings had come from Benson’s handgun.
Benson is prohibited from having a firearm due to a previous felony conviction from 2013, according to police.
On Thursday, officers arrested Benson on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Police have not yet identified any victims or injuries in the shooting.
An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
