LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man was found Sunday with a missing 17-year-old girl after a chase with troopers, the Nebraska State Patrol says.

Around 8:40 p.m., a trooper tried pulling over a speeding Honda Civic on Interstate 80, just southwest of York.

But the driver, later identified as 27-year-old Edwin Portillo Barrientos, refused to pull over and drove off at speeds of over 100 mph.

The chase came to an end southeast of Seward when Barrientos drove over stop sticks, the patrol said.

Barrientos and a passenger, the 17-year-old girl, then got out and ran away, according to the patrol.

With the help of Seward County deputies, troopers were able quickly to apprehend them.

A second passenger, who stayed in the vehicle, was also taken into custody.

The vehicle Barrientos was driving had been stolen, according to the patrol.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, theft by receiving stolen property (over $5,000) and multiple outstanding warrants.

The 17-year-old girl had been reported missing, according to the patrol. She was lodged at the Lancaster County Youth Detention Center on an outstanding warrant.

The patrol says the second passenger was cited on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia.
