Lincoln nonprofit seeking volunteers to assist in summer programs
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Sunday marked the beginning of Volunteer Appreciation Week, but some Lincoln nonprofits are in need of helping hands around the community.
City Impact members say dedicated volunteers could assist vital programs available for those who need it most.
Lexi Fields says, in just three short weeks as faith director, she’s noticed a need for volunteers.
“We currently have to add more kids to classrooms, or even like the literacy program,” she said. “We just have really great programs we want to do.”
The literacy program suffered from a shortage of volunteers just last year, but now assists other programs at City Impact.
Literacy Director Jessica Brinkmeyer says additional help is necessary to ensure success at City Impact.
“This summer, we are launching a new program S.T.E.A.M,” she said. “So we rely really heavily on our volunteers to make our program a success.”
