Highlights from first day of Nebraska track and field championships

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska state track and field championships are underway at Burke Stadium in Omaha.

Lincoln East won the girls 4×800 meter relay in 9 minutes, 13 seconds on Wednesday.

In individual events, East’s Sam Cappos broke the boys shot put record.

Another high point for Lincoln teams was Jackson Kessler of Pius X winning the boys high jump.

Norris was also well-represented, Taylor Bredthauer winning the girls long jump and Riley Boonstra taking the gold in the boys 3,200-meter.
