Inmates stabbed several staff members at Lincoln prison, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Multiple staff members at the Reception and Treatment Center were assaulted by inmates Wednesday.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said five staff members were taken to a local hospital with suspected stab wounds.
Two additional staff members were injured when they responded to the scene, officials said, but they were not assaulted.
None of the injuries are life-threatening.
Officials said the three inmates involved in the assault were intoxicated. Three weapons have been recovered.
“Violence toward staff members will not be tolerated,” Corrections Director Rob Jeffreys said in a press release. “Those who choose to perpetrate these acts will be dealt with accordingly, which includes internal discipline, risk mitigation and the judicial system.”
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the assault, and the findings will be presented to the county attorney.
