LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Star City Pride celebrated Lincoln’s LGBTQ+ community through a festival this weekend.

The festivities kicked off on Friday night with a vendor pavilion, local entertainers, and food and drink provided by local businesses supporting the Star City Pride event.

The festival hopes to bring together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities in celebration of their unique spirit and culture.

Carrie Beltrin with Jenda Foster Care Services says the event is a great way to celebrate people’s differences.

“Just celebrating with people and their excitement for the event, their ability to just show up exactly how they are and how they want to be represented. We’re just really honored to be a part of that.”

The festival continued on a Saturday morning with a parade for pride.

The parade featured local businesses, churches, and companies all in support of the LGBTQ community.

Emcee of the parade Tia Pet spoke on the love that the community has for all people.

“An event like this where we can all gather and unite and be one is so wonderful because it just shows that no matter what’s going on we’re gonna stand together, we’re gonna have a good time, and we’re gonna be prideful and share love and happiness,  which is what it’s all about.”
