Storm chance increasing
Scattered showers and storms are going to be possible on and off across the state Thursday night, Friday, and into early Saturday morning. Temperatures will remain very warm for Lincoln with 90+ degrees likely through next week.
First and foremost, it’s dry. Very dry. The latest drought monitor has much of eastern Nebraska in an Extreme to Exceptional drought. We need rain.
Rain IS in the forecast, but it could be spotty on Friday, so we only have a small chance in eastern Nebraska for that. The better chance for rain comes our way late Friday into early Saturday.
The Storm Prediction Center has much of the western half of the state in a Marginal, Slight, and Enhanced Risk for severe weather. The storms will start in western Nebraska Friday afternoon and quickly move east.
Because of how the storms move through early Saturday morning in eastern Nebraska, there is a Marginal to Slight Risk for severe weather. This is also an overnight into early in the morning storm system. Make sure you have a way to be alerted should severe storms move into your area while you are sleeping!
