The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 34 and Harlan Lewis Road.
A Hyundai Sonata was heading west on Highway 34 when the driver lost control, crossed the center line and crashed with an eastbound Dodge pickup truck.
Shortly after, the Hyundai was struck by an eastbound semi, according to the sheriff’s office.
A passenger in the Hyundai, a boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Hyundai were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition.
No one in the semi or pickup truck was injured.
The sheriff’s office said an investigation is ongoing, but weather may have played a role in the crash.
