Man identified as death investigation continues in Fremont

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police identified the man who was found dead earlier this week in Fremont.

On Friday, the Fremont Police Department identified the man as 45-year-old Steven C. McCauley II.

Officers located McCauley near the area of 22nd and D streets, which launched a death investigation on Wednesday.

An autopsy has been conducted, but police have not announced a cause of death.

It is not clear what circumstances led up to McCauley’s death, nor how police found him.

The death remains under investigation. Police said there is no threat to the public.
