Sen. Pete Ricketts hosts talk on his flex-fuel vehicle bill in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Sen. Pete Ricketts hosted a roundtable talk on Monday with members of the Nebraska Ethanol Board and other biofuels stakeholders.
On July 23, Ricketts and Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota proposed the Flex Fuel Fairness Act, a bill that would incentivize more manufacturing of flex-fuel vehicles.
This bill calls on the Environmental Protection Agency to recognize flexible-fuel vehicles as emissions friendly vehicles.
The proposal is in response to a recently proposed standard by the EPA for automakers to meet certain CO2 emissions values. That standard would only include fully electric vehicles, but Ricketts said adding flex-fuel cars can help the U.S. meet its emission goals.
The bill has been introduced in the Senate and is awaiting its next step.
